11/01/1940 The Croxon was fishing in the North Sea under command of skipper W. Blythe and his crew of nine
The vessel was attacked by two German aircraft with bombs and machine guns
The Croxton foundered in position 53°20N / 02°40E where the crew abandoned to a small boat
The next day at 9.00 a.m. after twenty four hours in open seas and having rowed sixty miles they sighted a drifter near North Hammond Knoll Buoy and were picked up at 9.45 a.m. by HMD Citron at about 2.00 p.m., and later landed at Lowestoft
