24/09/1916 Skipper D. Appleyard This trawler was on a fishing voyage 23 miles East by South, half South of Flamborough Head when she was stopped by a German submarine
The crew where told to take to their boats and the trawler sunk by gunfire She was one of 19 trawlers to be captured by a German submarine and sunk while fishing off the Yorkshire coast, during the hours of darkness
U-57 was responsible for at least 16 of the trawlers sank
