Sando Built 07/1889 Earleās Shipbuilding & Engineering Co Ltd Hull for the White Star Fishing Co Grimsby
First registered as a liner
12/11/1889 Sailed for Iceland and was severely damaged in a storm off Iceland on 24/11/1889. The vessel sought shelter in a fjord and remained there over the winter. Throughout this period it was thought that she was lost. Eventually a message was received from Iceland and SUDERO was sent to recover the damaged vessel. She arrived back in Grimsby on 22/03/1890.
The crew were looked after by local Icelanders during the winter.
