04/12/1960 Sprang a leak 90 miles off Spurn Point and foundered in heavy weather Skipper Nichols asked if any vessel near would come and stand-by.
The Taipo, skipper Alan Gill, was 20 miles away and steamed over.
The skipper of the Vindelecia requested a tow because there were so much water in the engine room the engines could not be used.
The Taipo was worked alongside with difficulty and finally managed to get a warp on board. After about one-and-a half hours of towing, the warp broke. It was decided to take half the crew taken aboard the Taipo
